Meike Watzlawik ist Professorin für Entwicklung & Kultur an der Sigmund Freud Universität, Berlin, Deutschland. Zuvor war sie Gastprofessorin an der Universität Osnabrück, Deutschland, Abteilung für Entwicklung & Kultur (2011-2014). Zusätzlich zu dieser 50%-Stelle war sie Geschäftsführerin eines privaten Berufsberatungsinstituts in Bremen, Deutschland, das mit Jugendlichen und jungen Erwachsenen arbeitet (2010-2015). Von 2008 bis 2009 war sie Gastwissenschaftlerin (Feodor-Lynen-Stipendiatin der Humboldt-Stiftung) an der Clark University, Worcester, MA, USA. Dort betreute sie ein eigenes Forschungsprojekt (Identitätsentwicklung in traditionellen und nicht-traditionellen Familien) und wurde Teil des von Prof. Dr. Jaan Valsiner initiierten internationalen Netzwerks von Kulturpsychologen. Sie studierte Psychologie an der Technischen Universität Braunschweig (Diplom). Promotion 2003 (Niedersachsenstipendium), Habilitation 2008 (von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft gefördertes Projekt), beides in der Abteilung für Entwicklungs- und Differentielle Psychologie (TU Braunschweig, Mentor Prof. Dr. Werner Deutsch). Sie absolvierte die Grundausbildung in Klientenzentrierter Therapie und ist zertifizierte Karriereberaterin (Triadic Counseling). Sie ist Mitglied des Redaktionsbeirats von Kultur & Psychologie. Die Untersuchung verschiedener Aspekte von Identität war der Schwerpunkt ihrer Forschung (z.B. sexuelle Identitätsentwicklung in der Adoleszenz, der Einfluss von Geschwisterbeziehungen/Zwillingsbeziehungen auf die Identitätsentwicklung, Paaridentität, berufliche Identität).
